Google’s Operating system Android known as the most popular mobile platform in India as well as the world following Apple’s iOS. The main reason is simplicity to use that it in a friendlier way and vast flexibility to support any number of third party apps.

Android Apps could be downloaded officially through the Google’s Play store or could be downloaded though the direct apk files (which are installable). In some way, direct apk download could be riskier and also makes Android vulnerable to security threats and malware. 1. Screen lock: It is the most basic security measure for every Android enables smart phones, a screen lock allows you to guard the device by using a pattern, PIN or password.
Remember, screen lock could be configured through the Android device’s Security Settings. Following the activation of the lock, the device can be set to lock automatically after a specific time period or by pressing the Power key. You can also setup the backup code in case you forgot the screen lock pattern.

2. Enabling Device Encryption: Google’s Android system allows to encrypt all the data on it’s device. Once activated, there will be a need to enter a password or PIN each time the device is turned on to decrypt all the data.
In worst case, if your android phone gets into the wrong hands, there’s no way to access the data without a password or PIN if the device is restarted. This way, your sensitive data stays safe though the device becomes a little slow. Just activate it via Android phone’s Security Settings.

7. Use app specific locks:
For enhanced security to accessing the apps, you can use additional protection for apps like Gallery and Messaging to protect private data.

8. Don’t Root your Android Device.
By rooting your phone you allow to install custom Android ROMs and even some incompatible apps.
Apps with root access get unhindered access to your device’s file-system which can expose you android device to more damage in case if a malicious app is installed. It also voids your phone’s warranty as all android Smartphone companies deny rooting.

9. Keep your Android up to date:
Time by Time Google releases its android software updates that also include several security patches. Check for your device’s software updates using the device Settings, where you’ll find a System Updates option in the About Device menu.

10. Browse web while signed out or use incognito mode:
Keep in mind to sign out of Google Chrome while browsing the web on an Android device or use incognito mode, especially if you share devices and PCs.
Google’s Web Browser Chrome records your search and browsing history and syncs it across all devices on which you’ve signed-in.
